FOR OVER TWENTY years Helen has amassed a broad range of building industry skills & knowledge, specialising in boutique design for commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, and general interior architecture.

Projects have ranged far and wide; gorgeous award-winning homes, funky cafés and breathtaking restaurants, inviting retail spaces, large Ex-serviceman’s Clubs, Hotels, Night Clubs, Medical Centres, multi-unit developments, shopping centres and public realm designs. If you can think of it, Sugar Designs has done it.

Helen has a thirst for detail and draws inspiration from iconic architecture & architects. Her passion to explore new ideas, reimagine the classic, and keep on top of current trends and design technology, ensures her designs maintain a unique quality that allows clients to enjoy their new space for years to come.

Sugar Designs is also committed to environmental issues and the principles of ecologically sustainable development (ESD). And we actively promote and incorporate ESD principles in our design work.

NATION WIDE DESIGN

Sugar Designs is Canberra based but we work nationally & internationally. We often have projects on the go in every Australian state. Helen has experience working within shopping centres on various developments, with organisations such as QIC, SCENTRE GROUP, VINTA, and WESTFIELD. This gives Sugar Designs the insight and unique understanding of specific fit-out management and retail design fit-out guidelines — this includes building code standards and all Australian regulations.

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME SUGAR DESIGNS

Let me start by saying it has nothing to do with cake. As a young girl, beautiful interiors would evoke a tingling, overwhelming rush of emotions, just like a sugar rush. And in the years that followed, my deep passion for iconic designs led me to architectural drafting and interior design, and a lifelong love affair creating beautiful spaces. So, there is a desire for every project to be as sweet as sugar for each of my clients.
